All Ways Network (AWN) was founded on the belief that no charity — no matter how small — should be left behind.
While working as a Grants Assistant at a London-based foundation, Ayesha Tariq noticed something troubling: very few Muslim-led organisations were applying for funding. Curious and concerned, she dug deeper — and uncovered a wider pattern. Many small, grassroots charities simply weren’t aware of how to access grants, or saw funders as out of reach.
Determined to change this, Ayesha organised Meet the Funders in November 2017 at the Osmani Centre in Whitechapel. The event brought together a powerful mix of Muslim-led charities and major funders including BBC Children in Need, Aziz Foundation, Clothworkers’ Foundation, Tudor Trust, and more. For many of the charities, it was their first opportunity to speak directly with funders — to ask questions, share their realities, and understand what support was available.
The response was overwhelming. What began as one event sparked a movement. Charities wanted more connection, more access, and more opportunities to grow sustainably — and so All Ways Network was born.
The name “AWN” (Arabic: “عون”) means to help or to assist — a fitting reflection of our mission. Today, AWN exists to empower small charities, amplify underrepresented voices, and break down the barriers between communities and funders — creating a more equitable and inclusive charitable sector for all.
